Soda Surrender

I decided recently (maybe a month ago?) that I would stop buying soda*. Normally my fridge was stocked with various generic brand sodas. My faves were diet cola, diet root beer and diet orange.

So one day I learned that my friend, CA, gave up soda and lost a ton of weight. What would happen if I gave up diet soda? Obviously it doesn't have calories like regular soda, but I have heard that the aspartame in diet sodas make you hungry, not to mention there is speculation that aspartame is a carcinogen.

The first couple weeks were tough. I was craving soda all the time. And since there wasn't any at home I starting buying it at work. Soon, though, I became used to not having it and no longer crave it. Was diet soda addictive? Is it like a drug? It sure seemed like it. Especially since I was drinking about 3 cans a day before I quit.

Now at home the fridge always has 1. seltzer water 2. sun-made ice tea and 3. Lemons (to naturally sweeten the tea or ice water)

I wish I could see my internal organs to see if this is really helping!

*Side note: I HATE the word pop. Refuse to use it
