Hi All! i have safely arrived in Singapore! I've been here about a day and a half, but have been working a lot! I am going to be here over the weekend, so I plan to go sight seeing then. Next week is Chinese New Year, so i am excited to go see the parades and fireworks. There will also be acrobats, food, lots of people and fair-like atmosphere.
Of course I've already gone shopping, going to the swap-meet type places. They also have lots of high end shopping, but seriously who can afford Prada? I'm happy with my 2 dollar magnets as souvenirs.
The weather is nice - very humid and hot! It does rain, and I mean RAIN, for about 2 hours a day. They even have umbrella rentals about town in case you get cought in a storm!
I'm off to Happy Hour (it's included in the hotel price!!). It's 6 pm here on Wednesday, which means it is 2 am in Seattle, so you are most likely sleeping. I'm 16 hours ahead, so it's been really confusing. I can barely remember what day I'm in.
Ok, more later!

Pedometer Challenge
Everyone seems to have new year resolutions. I have never really had a resolution before, so I'm trying it out this year. So what is my resolution? I'm going to lose weight.
For Christmas my sister Karen bought us little journals and encouraged my family to participate in a Pedometer Challenge. We each have pedometers and are now tracking our steps. She even put together a cool Web Site for us to share goals, useful tips and links.

I first tracked a typical day. I only walked about 3,000 steps. According to most web sites, you sould step at least 10,000 a day (or about 5 miles) to stay healthly and lose weight. So I have some work to do!
I started my challenge last Monday (January 7th). My goal was to do 10,000 steps for at least 5 days out of the weeek. Did I reach my goal? After going to the gym 5 days last week I did meet it! Each week I'm changing the goals and I told myself that if I accomplish my goals for 8 weeks straight, then I get a prize. Maybe a massage or some new clothes.
Wish me luck on my weightloss adventure. And if you are interested in going for a walk or doing something active please let me know. I can use all the support I can get! I've give you an update some time in February on my progress.

Idaho Man Cuts Off and Microwaves Hand

I saw this headline and thought it must be a joke. But no, here's a link to the story. I particularly like that the police man states that the hand was already partially cooked by the time they arrived. Poor guy needs some meds....
